The Scottish Football Association has confirmed its transfer window will close on 1st September.

The deadline for the summer window was due to be on 31st August, but has been pushed back by 24 hours as it falls on a Sunday.

The decision puts Scotland in line with the likes of England and Italy, who have already amended their deadline for completing transfers.

A statement from the SFA read: "It has become clear in the last few weeks that a significant number of national associations have decided to move the closure of their window to midnight Monday September 1 in order to avoid any possible problems that may arise through the deadline falling upon a weekend.

"Among those who have changed to September 1 are England, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.

"This being the case it would seem in this instance to make sense to bring the closure of our transfer window into line with these national associations in order to assist our clubs and ensure that they are not disadvantaged in any way when trying to sign players prior to the deadline.

"There are however still some associations who are closing their window at midnight on Sunday August 31 and accordingly the association will make arrangements to have registrations department cover on August 31 as well as September 1 to deal with all enquiries."
