John Carew is tipping Aston Villa team-mates Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young to shine at international level for England in the near future.

Attacking midfielder Young, 23, has three caps to his name while striker Agbonlahor, 21, has yet to make his senior bow.

The duo were in fine form for Villa at the weekend with Agbonlahor netting a hat-trick, however neither were selected in Fabio Capello's squad for Wednesday evening's friendly against Czech Republic.

Norway international Carew, though, feels it is only a matter of time before the pair emerge as key personnel in the England set-up.

Carew said: "I can definitely see Gabby and Ashley breaking into the England side this season. They can be as good as they want.

"They have great potential. They have everything in front of them. They are both young with fantastic skills and they can both succeed and go a long way in the game.

"It is the start of a new era for England and there is a good generation of players coming through. I think they will be very strong in the years to come - and Gabby and Ashley can be part of that."
