Reid: Football decision

Hamilton Academical have decided against signing Reading defender Tom Hateley on loan.

Hateley has been training with the SPL new boys ahead of a proposed move to Billy Reid's side.

The teenager contracted mumps, which originally held up his trial, but he has now featured in several bounce matches.

However, Reid admits the son of former Rangers striker Mark Hateley has failed to earn a temporary move to the club.

"Tom has gone back to Reading," said Reid in the Daily Record. "It didn't work out and we wish him all the best.

"It was a football decision and these things happen in football."
