Calderwood: Delighted with capture

Nottingham Forest have signed teenage striker Mickael Darnet from AS Cannes.

The 18-year-old was brought to the club's attention by former player, and French-based scout, David Friio.

He has signed a one-year deal at the City Ground and will be hoping to force his way into Colin Calderwood's first-team plans.

He featured in the Reds' 3-1 victory over Burton on Tuesday and his new manager is adamant that the youngster has the potential to be a big hit at the City Ground.

Tough

"He's a tough little character," said Calderwood.

"He's obviously quiet to a degree because he's not fluent in the language but he's learning English at the moment, along with Guy Moussi, and we have Hamza Bencherif in the dressing room to help them both."

Darnet becomes Forest's fifth signing of a busy summer, joining Andy Cole, Moussi, Rob Earnshaw and Paul Anderson on the banks of the Trent.
