Boateng: Upbeat

George Boateng believes Hull have a 'good chance' of avoiding relegation in their first season in the Premier League.

The Tigers won promotion via the Championship play-offs and are among the favourites to go straight back down again.

However, Boateng has been impressed by what he has seen at Hull since arriving from Middlesbrough last week and feels they should able to survive.

"What amazes me is that they have the right setup," the midfielder told Sky Sports News.

"The players are very keen, everyone is lively, they can't wait to get a taste of the Premier League, so for me they are not too far behind.

"All they need to do is push on to the next level."

Healthy

Boateng accepts that it is always going to be difficult for promoted clubs in their first season in the top flight.

However, he feels manager Phil Brown has been clever in bringing in a number of players with Premier League experience.

"I think if you look at the way this club is doing it, it is healthy," he explained.

"I think most clubs when they come up buy a lot of players but they are not Premier League- based players.

"They are still of a Championship level because they are scared that if they do go down they have this financial burden.

"But I think Hull has tried to get Premier League players on a very good budget, in a sense that they are value for money.

"I think this team has a good chance."
